Getting more people out of cars improves traffic congestion. If you don't support cycling infrastructure or improved public transport because you "like driving" then you're a fool unless the thing you like about driving is specifically the bit where you stay still for hours per week.
When someone complains that cyclists slow down traffic just remind yourself that they're really saying "the handful of minutes I've spent behind a cyclist prior to easily overtaking them are more salient to me than the accumulated weeks crammed between near-stationary cars on my daily commute."
