ATLANTA (AP) — Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock defeated Republican challenger Herschel Walker in a Georgia runoff election Tuesday, ensuring Democrats an outright majority in the Senate for the rest of President Joe Biden’s current term and capping an underwhelming midterm cycle for the GOP in the last major vote of the year.

All the blue voters in this map other than those living in Madison and Milwaukee got gerrymandered away in the House election. Only the governor and Senate races were fair; the Ds won one & the Rs the other. To make House elections also fair, you need proportional representation. #gerrymandering #Election22

Yesterday was a good day for democracy. Americans turned out to defend our principles from those who denied our right to choose our own leaders. There was little violence, the election appears to have gone smoothly, and there are few claims of “fraud.” As I write tonight, control of the House and Senate is still not clear, but some outlines are now visible.

#election22 Disappointed again at number of voters vs number of eligible voters who don’t vote. It’s sad. Voting is like public transportation. It may not get you exactly where you want to go but it gets you closer to your goal than staying home and pouting over your choice of route.

I have no idea what's happening in the rest of the United States this #Election22 , but my state has voted in our first Black governor (who I wish was more genuinely progressive but at least he's not an outright fascist like his opponent) and we legalized recreational cannabis!

Charlie Crist didn’t manage to shut down DeSantis’ show and Val Demings lost to Marco Rubio. Expect the same with Stacey Abrams. Even if he wins, Rafael Warnock is an outlier. Aspiring black political leaders in the South face immeasurable challenges breaking through to high state and national office. #Election22 #midterm22
