Ebony Lamb | the PROPAGANDA site

A singer-songwriter and lead of the New Zealand folk band Eb and Sparrow in the '10s, Ebony Lamb is an artist who works mostly in the folk-inspired style, somewhere between somber balladry and pop with a gentle sway. Her songs feel introspective and contemplative, and she sings in a smokey voice that can, at times, be reminiscent of Kristine Leschper (of Mothers) or Adrienne Lenker (of Big Thief) in its quivering vulnerability. The nature and overall flavor of her solo work is not altogether different from what she was doing previously with her band except that the music sounds a bit more focused perhaps, and comes with a much sharper point of view and overall sound.
