@jupitersigh I just remembered another book I have that talks about many of the same principles, The Earth Shelter Handbook. It was published in 1980 so the section on building codes is probably ancient, but the core concepts hold up when it comes to earth structures! And the bonus, this one’s on the IA.

@wasted Yes, I envisage using gabions for any vertical structure (beams & walls). If used underground, best surrounded by rubble for drainage. Once built, easy to reinforce with found fence, wire, etc. #steampunkgabions #urbanecology #postcollapsearchitecture #earthshelters #permaculture #resilientcommunities #sustainablecommunites #closingloops #urbanpermaculture
@wasted I've become obsessed with gabions made with found metals and concrete rubble as a significant post-collapse building framework for the future. They hold up hiways (commonly!) and large landscape elements... and a neighbor's earth shelter. Anyone can build them chunk by chunk. I am imagining... #steampunkgabions #urbanecology #postcollapsearchitecture #earthshelters #permaculture #resilientcommunities #sustainablecommunites #closingloops #urbanpermaculture
