This just blew my head: we're looking at the latest and greatest ZKP frameworks before digging more into noir, and I saw this:

A freakin' RUST TARGET FOR ZERO KNOWLEDGE PROOF VIRTUAL MACHINES!

So: take your rust program (not all of std is supported), compile it to a zkvm, and run it there!

Schweiz: Ja zur e-ID

Nach dem denkwürdigen Referendumssieg von 2021 gegen die privatisierte E-ID haben wir die digitalpolitische Kehrtwende für das E-ID-Gesetz 2.0 mit geprägt. Wir haben fast alle unsere Anforderungen in die Vorlage einbringen können: Die neue E-ID ist Privatsphäre-freundlich, datensparsam und sicher.

So the new Swiss e-ID is on its way. With really shiny election results from the parliament. As the Swiss system allows citizens to start a "referendum" to get a new law voted by its population, we won't know until 21st of April whether it's directly accepted, or needs to go through voting.

Either way, let's hope it's really starting in 2026...

On the last day of the 2024 winter session, the Council of States and the National Council adopted the Federal Act on Electronic Identity and Other Electronic Credentials in their final votes.

Result of the vote in the National Council: 170 in favour, 25 against, 1 abstention.

Voting result in the Council of States: 43 in favour, 1 against, 0 abstentions.

The e-ID Act is subject to an optional referendum. The referendum period begins with the publication of the e-ID Act in the Federal Gazette, which is planned for 9 January 2025; it is therefore expected to end on 21 April 2025.

Did a small presentation of the E-ID summary slides at today's DigiGes meeting in Lausanne. Nearly the same as yesterday, but without the nerf-guns. So we had more time to present it :)
