Esta es la banda yo más esperaba en esta edición de Lollapalooza Chile. Sí, más que Deftones. Es que en Drink The Sea, como ya dije en algún otro lado, hay más peso e historia rockera que en casi todo el resto de artistas del festival este año. Una banda compuesta por Peter Buck (ex R.E.M.), Barrett Martín (ex Screaming Tres y Mad Season) y nuestro Alain Johannes (ex Eleven, colaborador habitual de Chris Cornell y muchos otros) lleva parte importante de la música que escuché en mi adolescencia y juventud. R.E.M. es mi segunda banda favorita de la vida, por eso mis expectativas y ánimo por verlos eran muy altos.
El escenario, La Cúpulula del Parque O’Higgins convertido en Lotus Stage para Lollapalooza, fue perfecto porque es un recinto cerrado y pequeño que no deja pasar luz a 6 de la tarde. El público está cerca de la banda y tiene muy buena acústica. El sonido del grupo recuerda mucho a Screaming Trees y Mark Lanegan. El set de 45 minutos fue demasiado poco para mi gusto, pero se agradece el cierre con los covers de The One I Love (R.E.M.) y Hangin’ Tree (Queens of the Stone Age). Drink The Sea es de esos artistas que hacen que te gusten aún más después de escucharlos en vivo.
Necesito un concierto completo de esta banda… ¡Por favor!
