It would be far better if whoever runs this aggregator coded it to at least give credit to where they scrape the articles from (in this case Reddit), otherwise it just looks sketchy, like scraping the websites to repost content and snag some ad revenue (or at least they would if I didn't run adblockers everywhere) and not even encouraging interaction with the original poster

(it was a tuned #EA888 running #E85 #petrol which has likely had the timing chain neglected, that *is* going to end badly and it did)

Decided to go for 6 month #oil change (recommended for #EA888 - oil is worked hard in this engine; regularly goes over 100° C, car had previously been driven short distances around #London by lads at dealer before it was sold to me)

Got up early to visit #GSF and #EuroCarParts to collect oil, filter, vacuum oil extractor, 32mm socket for #oilfilter both from #Sealey and used #Laser tools 3/8" ratchet I'd recently got for wheel bearing job.

Was quite easy to extract oil through dipstick tube (5,7 litres of it!)

Old filter was from Crosland (Euro Car Parts own brand), goodness knows where oil was from! Date code Dec 2024, so at least car *had* been serviced that year..

Replaced with #MANN filter and #Castrol Edge LL oil (made to VW standard)

Discovered its better to leave coilpack bolts slightly loose when reconnecting their plugs due to tight harness.

Might be placebo, but car feels like it runs better after replacing #sparkplugs

Decided to take a few engine bay #photos of the #EA888 with #LumixG100D after washing my hands, so got a few bonus shots of high pressure #petrol pump and MPI (multi point #injection) extra fuel rail (there are port injectors below it which should hopefully reduce carbon buildup) - USA variants of this #engine don't get this and its been deleted from later engines (2019 onwards?) that have #GPF (gasoline/petrol particulate filter) due to WLTP requirements

Even if you aren't that into in #cars this is impressive work. I was expecting the #Chinese mechanics to just replace the oil pan and gaskets, not haul out the whole entire #EA888 #engine from the #VW #Scirocco and strip and #overhaul every component (like what used to happen more often in #garages here in 1970s/80s). They are using a mix of old skool skills, and modern computerised tools I have not even seen in many Western workshops..
