I realize that this is a problem with classless systems in general, and I say that as someone who likes classless systems (at least in theory - I haven't played with one yet).

I have #DungeonFantasy on order, and I expect that will solve some of my problems. But damn, flipping through that basic GURPS Characters book to see what it would take to make a character was overwhelming and off-putting.

It's hard to find #DungeonFantasy reviews on YouTube (which I where I usually go for reviews), but I nevertheless decided to take the plunge and order the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying System (powered by #GURPS), despite the heavy 50+ USD shipping (ugh!)

Looking forward to reading through it when it arrives, should hopefully be by Friday next week. Anyone have any experience with it?

Talking about #TTRPG 's today I'm reminded of a recent issues I've had with #SteveJacksonGames particularly #GURPS. I've been purchasing physical books for the system since the 90's I have quite the collection of 3e and 4e books and grabbed their #DungeonFantasy set as well. I also picked up their Character creation software as GURPS characters can quickly get very complicated, especially with all the calculations needed and how changing one thing can effect everything else. Online they are offering anyone who purchased their software digitally to get a free upgrade to the latest version which is compatible with modern versions of windows where the previous version is not. Myself, having purchased it on CD-ROM I'm not eligible. I've emailed them about it and they are stating they can't verify my purchase because it's physical.I've been a fan of this company and its game for decades and feel they didn't do their part not making the upgrade available to people who purchased the software when first released and only are giving the upgrade to those that purchased more recently digitally.

I wasn't expecting the update for free but hoped for a discount instead of paying full price for the software again. I didn't upgrade and instead used another system.

Nordlond my beloved... 😔 Truly one of the (few) GURPS Fantasy Settings of all time.

Thinking about golems again 🤔

I think for golems to really shine, they should be more technical but less heavy on investment, with a high variation in how long they last based on how carefully they were built.

I learned recently that the tales of golems are circa 1600s, which means the parable of "creating a autonomous servitor-warrior that might turn on you" is not only older than robotics, it's older than electronics!

#DungeonMeshi really turning out better each episode...

Plus I really wanna make a dungeon puzzle where the characters have to hop into a painting and adjust a scene to be historically accurate (the puzzle teaches a moment). c:

Steve Jackson Games' Dungeon Fantasy hack-n-slash TTRPGs are on offer

Dungeon Fantasy was designed to be the best of both worlds, to lure in D&D players or those dungeon-crawling curious, with off-the-shelf equipment load-outs and crib sheets while still having that core GURPS feel.

I've needed quick access to rules on underwater adventuring for GURPS Dungeon Fantasy before, and that caused me a bit of suffering. So I decided to gather them all in one spot in this post: https://bira.github.io/octopus-carnival/2023/07/11/underwater-dungeon-fantasy.html

Legends & Lattes: Book Review - Breaking it all Down

This month’s pick for the Sword & Laser Book Club, and the winner of their Madness In March Tournament was Legends & Lattes, a book that had been on my recommendations list for quite a bit, so it’s time to take a look at it. There’s a concept in fandom – the “Coffee Shop AU”
