A long, lunchless workday later the Doomguy Urbie is done, yay!

Megamassive thanks to @Eldoniousrex for the Doom cover art homage that inspired me ๐Ÿค“

Bonus points for anyone who noticed I didn't paint the ripped combat overalls and wounds onto the right inner thigh here. I thought it wouldn't be seen, but maybe I should've gone the extra step anyway. Too late now ๐Ÿ˜„

The base was a bit too dark red, so I blended in some Abteilung's Dark Rust and Light Rust #OilPaints for a bit more ferrous Mars look. I also fixed a couple of yellow ochre bits that showed on photos but didn't catch my awful eyes.

And then the hex base's edges I painted German Grey, with Yellow Ochre caution stripes. Maybe the only thing left is pulling the rusty dusty feet down a bit. That and applying some gloss varnish where needed.

A simple, quick base for #DoomguyUrbie: a piece of gravel, Woodland Scenics' ballast, three shades (1) of Abteilung 502 #OilPaints and now it's waiting until tomorrow evening for the oils to dry. I remain confident in tolerably Mars-y results.

I thought of adding a couple of wash-thin Grass Green drops for Baron of Hell blood but we'll see ๐Ÿค”

(1) Dark Brick Red base, some Oxide Patina highlights and a touch of Industrial Earth for shadows.

*Now* the #DoomguyUrbie itself is done. I finished the cockpit viewport's #jeweling attempt with white dots, and painted the AC-10's barrel bottom black, leaving the inner barrel still dark grey.

I'd do white gluing the random gravel and Woodland Scenics' ballast on the hex base while we speak, but the cats are sleeping on my storage and I just can't disturb them. So, some other day then.

Maybe the #DoomguyUrbie is about done now, with a bit of Abteilubg 502 Green Grass #OilPaints blended on the upper green parts.

I attempted red jeweling on the Small Laser and the AC/10 targeting laser, and a bit of blue jeweling on the tiny vision slits. Could've been worse in confined spaces.

Now I imagine all that is left is the base, and it ought to be Mars-themed as well, even if Doomguy never set foot on the planet itself ๐Ÿค“

The #DoomguyUrbie got some stupid attempts at the classic UAC logos freehanded. Greys on grey, not my brightest idea ๐Ÿ˜…

The Abteilung sepia pin wash improved the overall look. I think I'll try some green grass oil dots the next time I can paint ๐Ÿค” When those are all done, I can ruin some details with my amateurish jeweling skills ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

What's a good colour for non-weapon lenses like scanners and targeting equipment? Non-laser red maybe?

I felt brave and added some thin highlight lines of yellow ochre and goblin green on the more prominent panels. #DoomguyUrbie might get pin washed next, and the attempted jeweling of viewports, the Small Laser and random targeting device lenses would come in later.

Speaking of the viewports, I may go for bright blues for visibility ๐Ÿค” Those upper legs are also crying for some freehand old-school UAC logos, to bring in the 1993 feel ๐Ÿค“

A bit of progress with color blocking on the #DoomguyUrbie. My first grey (VMA cold grey) was lighter than I wanted and, shockingly, _cold_ in hue compared to the wood and green. So I mixed a new batch with a drop of German Grey and red (VMA RLM23), much better!

There's still stuff to fix, but I gave a cautious shot at highlighting the greens.

Also, german grey used on the unpainted metallic bits and black AC-10 output, and the viewports.

Funnily enough I managed to start my #DoomguyUrbie today. Red primer (maybe it helps with the green and tan hues better than black), then I just started blocking out the combat armor + pants parts with green.

First just 3B Russian Green, then four more layers, each with a drop of Yellow Ochre mixed in to the paint for slightly brighter green in hopefully smaller layers.

Then I did the first layers of abs + arms with "wood". Looks weird in progress but gets better. I hope๐Ÿ˜… #MiniaturePainting
