Replication of Quantum Factorisation Records with an 8-bit Home Computer, an Abacus, and a Dog

This paper presents implementations that match and, where possible, exceed current quantum factorisation records using a VIC-20 8-bit home computer from 1981, an abacus, and a dog. We hope that this work will inspire future efforts to match any further quantum factorisation records, should they arise.

Love dog behavior data? 🐶 🐾📊

The ManyDogs Project has just published our first data paper, which describes and links to all the guardian-provided and behavior data from the consortium's first study on dogs' responses to pointing gestures. Guardians had the opportunity to answer the entire C-BARQ, which could be interesting by itself.

Data from ManyDogs 1 | Journal of Open Psychology Data

The Journal of Open Psychology Data (JOPD) publishes peer-reviewed data papers describing psychology datasets with high reuse potential. Data papers may describe datasets from unpublished work or from papers published previously in a traditional journal. We welcome submissions from all areas of psychology including replication research, qualitative research and meta-research. We hope to reward authors for sharing datasets according to FAIR principles, providing structure for the data and papers to be citable, and for reuse to be tracked.

The Great Aversives Debate

A perfect response to the YouTube clown Zak George, who drank too much of his cool aid. Of course, Zak could not refute a single thing Ivan presented in his video on The Real Facts About Science-Based Dog Training.

Facts are stubborn little things.

Researchers use biomimicry to enhance particle detection 16-fold by sniffing like dogs.

Throughout human history, dogs have long been one of the greatest tools we've honed for detecting scent, extending humanity's reach with capabilities fine enough to sense viruses, cancer, explosives, and controlled substances to name a few.

Honored to have my dog behavior & evolution course that I’m co-teaching with Erin Hecht featured in the Harvard Gazette! We’ve had great success with the course’s hands on, seminar style approach. Dogs are an excellent way to engage with students when teaching biology and/or research methods.
