#TodayIMissed ... I don’t think anything has made me miss #Japan as much as seeing a #Document72Hours episode about a 24-hour #laundromat. Once a week we’d trudge to a laundromat in #Fukuoka to do our laundry. It was a half-block from a #konbini, so once our machines were running, we’d go get some coffee and a snack. Then we’d read or chat while we waited. Seems rather mundane but I’d give anything to be back there again. #NHK

@DervPerv I have a binder full of ideas from TV shows like #TokyoDeep, #Document72Hours, and other NHK and NHK World shows.

I would also like to wonder aloud, why is NHK World dubbing so awful? If it’s a girl or young woman, she sounds like a Smurf. If it’s a woman over 40, she sounds like she’s 100.

A Cat Temple: Soothing the Mind and Soul - Document 72 Hours | NHK WORLD-JAPAN On Demand

Ohta-kun, Futa, Elf, Cowcow ... are four of the sixteen cats that live on the grounds of a temple at the foot of the mountains of Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture. The former head priest began providing care for abandoned cats, and today, the temple is visited by many cat lovers from near and far. Among the visitors was a man who comes to get away from the stress of his job, and a former cat owner who overcame the death of his cat by coming to this temple. There's a story behind not only the people who come to visit but the cats that have made their way to this temple. For three days, we listened to their stories.
