The recent #DitlevsenAndDitlevsen paper on the #AMOC #TippingPoints has gained a lot of public interest. There is much evidence on how easily the AMOC can be "shut off" through freshwater forcing. Lack of adequate feedback mechanisms in these experiments make it notoriously more difficult to investigate how the AMOC is "turned back on." Furthermore, the vast majority of collapse studies take place in glacial or pre-industrial climate. We know little of the consequences in a ~450ppm #climate.
