I created a passkey for my Microsoft account. Windows Hello kept popping up and the implications were not immediately clear.

When I tried accessing my account with Chrome the Hello authentication prompt kept coming up even though I selected Google Password Manager as the passkey, er, source. When I disabled Hello things made sense again. But now I need my Microsoft account password to sign into the VM.
