Commemoration of the Disability Day of Mourning (day of mourning for murdered people with disabilities)

What is the Disability Day of Mourning?

The Disability Day of Mourning takes place annually on 1 March and was first held in 2012. On this day, we commemorate all disabled people who have been murdered by carers, parents, relatives or in the healthcare system.

The Disability Memorial Initiative alone counts more than 1800 murders since 1980 from media reports. ASAN counts more than 550 deaths in the last five years in the USA alone. The number of unreported cases is probably much higher.

The event will be held in German spoken language. We will also provide printed copies of all texts on site and in digital form on our website.

Was ist der Disability Day of Mourning?

Der Disability Day of Mourning findet jährlich am 1. März statt und fand erstmals 2012 statt. An diesem Tag gedenken wir allen behinderten Menschen, die von Pflegenden, Eltern, Angehörigen oder im Gesundheitssystem ermordet wurden.

Die Disability Memorial Initiative alleine zählt mehr als 1800 Morde seit 1980 aus Medienberichten. Die ASAN zählt mehr als 550 Tote in den letzten fünf Jahren nur in den USA. Die Dunkelziffer ist vermutlich deutlich höher.

Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher Lautsprache statt. Alle Texte werden wir auch ausgedruckt vor Ort und in digitaler Form auf unserer Webseite bereitstellen.
