anyway I've been binging on the Devil May Cry series and some of the external media. I finished DMC2 last night. My assessment is still, to borrow a turn of phrase from Knights of the Old Republic 2, "It's not *that* bad, it's just ... well, okay, maybe it is."

if they made Devil May Cry 2 today, they'd make it woke. You'd be able to play as a dark-skinned woman, and the final boss would keep switching between male and female forms

Devil May Cry 2 is the only game in the series that lets you play as a woman as, like, a primary-story-mode thing instead of being limited to a bonus mode. unfortunately, the woman in question is french.
