I went to see a performance by the NCH Gamelan Orchestra. For the second half of their set they were joined by jazz trumpeter Byron Wallen. And for their last piece (Simon van der Walt's Gamelunk) they had a special guest star on sax: his excellency Dr Desra Percaya, Indonesian ambassador to Ireland and the United Kingdom. It was a great moment. The ambassador has definite chops.
