Alex / Gingey on Instagram: "We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of @dios_deli, having been fans of @hugosgreengrocer for a long time. They opened yesterday so we swung by for lunch today. First impressions were good - gorgeous green tiles and a queue which is always a good sign. We made it to the front to find out the special (char siu) had sold out and were then a little disappointed at the sandwich selection which was basically ham or cheese or a couple of vegan options. I think we were both expecting something fancier. We went with one ham, one cheese. The wait was a little long but totally worth it. ❤️ I don’t know why I doubted their sandwiches because I KID YOU NOT - they were probably the best cheese and ham sarnies either of us has ever eaten. 🧀 Tangy cheddar, lemon aioli, winter tomatoes, lettuce and picked cucumbers for me - divine. 🍋 Thick cut roast ham, spinach, lemon aioli for Dave - fucking glorious. We paid £5.50 each, which felt wholly reasonable (given that a packet supermarket sandwich will set you back close to £4 these days). Honestly, worth every penny and we will 100% be back for more soon. Such a joy to be slightly underwhelmed initially only to then get your heads blown off, what’s the saying?
