A darkroom print I made yesterday from a roll of Panatomic-X (expired in 1976 as I recall). This was up on a watch tower thing at the southern lighthouse park in Cozumel and is looking over a lagoon of brackish water (which included an alligator, whoa).
Developed in @zoneimagingltd 's 510-Pyro using the Defehr Semi-Stand method (which given my fantastic results is what I will continue to use with the rest of the rolls I suspect). First time I've used a roll from my stash. All these rolls were given to me by the late great Tom Bartley who we gave a proper send off to last week during our trip to Cozumel with @divemasterssa . I thought our memorial dive trip would be the perfect time to try the film out.
I've read up on Panatomic-X before and it seems to hold up really well over the ages. Tom stored these in a freezer so I was hoping I would get a few usable images from it. Turns out it held up _really_ well! Low base fog for its age and the semi-stand made it easy to print in the darkroom. It has a bit of grain which I think might relate to the age as it was known as a super fine grained film as I recall. Grain isn't off-putting though.
This is perhaps my favorite landscape from the roll. Printed with a #2 filter on @ilfordphoto MGRC and developed in Ansco-130. Exposed for 12" with a 6" burn to the sky just to bring the clouds in a little. I think I'm gonna make a fiber print of this on Ilford FB, in part so I can give it a nice selenium treatment as I think that'll really make things pop but otherwise I really quite like it.
