What the hell?! the robotic voice made me jump and I nearly swerved into oncoming traffic. I straightened out and hit the brakes just in time.

"Dad, decelerate means slow down!" Sammy shrieked. Then started laughing.

"Sammy, what did you do?"

"The new SatNav came with a Dalek voice option. I thought you'd enjoy it."

Driving towards a climate brick wall,
No one seems to give a fuck at all
The fuckwits accelerate,
Instead of decelerate,
Leading to our ultimate downfall.

"I'm a decelerationist," she said, leaning over to clip a particularly spectacular zinnia.

"You mean like the people who want robots to take over?"

"Not really." She rose with slow deliberation. "The opposite, I suppose."

The garden seemed alive, bees flitting from flower to flower, practically vibrating in the heat.

"So you're a luddite?"

"Culture's a technology, too, you know. Sometimes one thing needs to catch up to the rest," she said, and pulled a stray weed.

Whoa - Rewind and replay that!
Slowly, frame by frame, I need to understand what happened there.
There. That blip. A sudden ramping of heat energy and then nothing. Deceleration almost to background norms.
What do you think caused it?
I don’t know, it’s the first time we’ve been able to image and record something at this scale. All I see is that spike and retreat.
Can we split the data into a (1/2)

power pump the brakes
navigate, decelerate
you’ll get there in time
