Heute habe ich es endlich zum Oxfamshop geschafft und die Bücher, Kleidung und ein paar kleine Haushaltsgegenstände abgegeben, die ich vor einigen Wochen aussortiert habe. Einen Hoodie wollten sie nicht haben. Das kann ich gut verstehen, wenn sie ihn jetzt nicht loswerden. #decluttering
More #decluttering done over the week that my house mates were away on holiday. I noticed that I put out a fresh bag for recycling. I've only gone and filled it before they came back! That's a nice amount to get rid off. I also added some fabrics and a couple of clothing items to another bag, but I haven't taken that to the clothing bin just yet. Will do soon though.
So I think I've done well. I still have waaayyy too much stuff of course. The process continues!

...maybe more like Michelangelo carving David from a block of stone. The more dried up onion layers I discard the more the things that I really like, that are me, are getting the space they deserve. In proportion to all the excessive, unwanted items, the loved things begin to feel more present.
Sometimes it's difficult to tell which group an item belongs to, like the pretty placemats, but once I decide to get rid, the sheer relief I feel proves it was the right decision.

As I'm struggling with way too much stuff that built up over several decades, I feel more and more that the process of #decluttering is all about liberation. You throw off the weight of things you left behind but didn't get out of the house. Stuff that slowly lost appeal and the potential we saw in them. It's about letting go of dreams too, or ideas about who I would become. And it's about discarding aspirational items that were never me, or my style. Like peeling an onion, or maybe more...
