In better news, the dining table is back in the middle of the room, leaving space by the radiator. Got rid of the very old sofa that had sunk. You could sleep on it since the arms were low, but it’s terrible for the back and we‘re not sure what the filling was made of.

Replaced it nearly five years ago, was just tricky to get it out of the house (fellas doing the gutters took it).

New #blogpost!

Over the years I've accumulated a couple of things that I probably don't need anymore, but they still take up space in my bedroom, so I wrote about some of them...

Devices collecting dust

Over the years I've accumulated a couple of things that I probably don't need anymore, however, I haven't made the time to get rid of them, and honestly I don't know what to do about them.

The Mess Behind My Obsessions

Millennials complain that their Boomer parents won't throw anything away. A psychologist explains why.

I know with my reasoning brain that I will never have too little stuff (barring disasters). I know excessive clutter makes me feel like I can't breathe properly, it's frustrating and stressful. I know I will be happier with fewer items and it'll be utterly blissful when I can find things again.
I'm just feeling a bit downcast because of my slow progress. Pulling things out to go through them creates a huge mess. I'm fed up with that part of the process.
Going through folders now.

...around me that makes me feel enriched. I love the potential of the stuff I own, even though I know I won't realise most of it. The look I'd love is a sort of bohemian range of things I enjoy - except I got rid of a lot of deco without a qualm. I grew out of those. I have a few picture frames (will get rid of some), and just realised that those will make my next place feel homely. Not so bare and horrible as I fear from "not enough stuff".

I'll consider those kinds of elements.

I think I identified a big psychological hurdle that's slowing me downin decluttering before my house move this year.
I think I worry I won't have enough left, that there will be so few things that I'll feel bereft. That I'll feel poor. That it will look minimalist, which I'm absolutely not going for.
I started packing a box of treasures: a few bits of expensive china, mementoes from childhood etc, I know I will have those.
It's just that I'm so used to having excess around...
