Driving Change: Dawsons trials Hydrogen car for Clean Air Day

Staff at Dawson’s were lucky enough to get behind the wheel of the Toyota Mirai, a next-generation hydrogen-powered vehicle that offers a quiet, smooth and surprisingly luxurious driving experience.

But what makes this car truly remarkable is what you can’t see, or smell. It emits zero harmful exhaust and goes a step further by actively purifying the air as it drives, helping to remove pollutants from the atmosphere.

Clean air, quiet roads, and a glimpse into a cleaner future, what’s not to love?

Dawson’s say they are proud to already operate a growing number of hybrid vehicles within our fleet, with electric models set to join later this year. Trialling hydrogen technology adds another forward-thinking option to its sustainable transport strategy.

Chris Foxall, CEO of Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions, said: “We’re hugely grateful to Dawsons for the opportunity to showcase the Toyota Mirai in and around Swansea recently.  This zero-emission hydrogen vehicle not only produces no harmful exhaust,  it actually helps clean the air as it drives, thanks to its built-in air purification system.

“It’s a fitting tribute to Swansea’s own Sir William Grove, the inventor of the fuel cell nearly 200 years ago. To see his legacy now powering clean transport on the streets of his home city is both inspiring and symbolic of the hydrogen future we’re helping to build together.”
