Western ExposureCelebrating the harvest. Finally got around to taking a few photos before munching these. The taste doesn't blow your socks off, but it's not bad either for the cold "summer" we've had. Some found their way into delicious pear&apple cake.

When I grew up, in northern climes, oranges and mandarines were maybe no longer a luxury but definitely just a winter phenomenon. After eating them us kids used to squeeze the peel, spritzing the oils into the advent candles' flames for the crackle and scent. In my mind oranges will forever evoke the festive season.
