Zwei Tote und viele Verletzte bei Taifun in Taiwan

Mit bis zu 220 km/h peitschte der Wind über die ostasiatische Insel Taiwan. Zwei Menschen wurden durch Auswirkungen des Taifuns "Danas" getötet, es gab mehr als 300 Verletzte. Als Tropensturm nimmt "Danas" nun Kurs auf China.

#Typhoon #Danas (now downgraded to #SevereTropicalStorm) has come and gone. Where we live up in North #Taiwan is mostly fine. However, southern cities and counties such #Chiayi suffered pretty bad damage.

Taiwan has issued a land warning as Typhoon Danas approaches from the southwest, bringing the threat of heavy rain and strong winds. The storm is expected to peak from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, affecting 18 counties and cities across the island.

#Typhoon #Danas, which 2 days ago was forecast to skirt past us along the Taiwan Strait, actually just made landfall in #Chiayi County.

Much of #Taiwan is closed for business and school on Monday, except for #Taipei, #NewTaipei, #Keelung, and #Taoyuan which will remain open. It's gonna be a "great" morning commuting in the rain for those living up north. 🤷‍♂️

#Taiwan will start to feel the change in weather soon, thanks to #TropicalStorm #Danas! The CWA has just issued Land Typhoon Warning for #Chiayi, #Tainan, #Kaohsiung, #Pingtung, #HengchunPeninsula and #Penghu under an hour ago, and the warning areas are expected to extend northward throughout the next day or two. Much of the west coast will see > 80% chance of storm force wind conditions between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

Two tropical cyclones in the Western North Pacific at the moment:

• #SevereTropicalStorm #Mun is expected to briefly reach #Typhoon strength by Sunday morning. It will not affect any major landmass.
• #TropicalStorm #Danas will intensify as a Typhoon, and move NE along the Taiwan Strait, skirting the west coast of #Taiwan on Sunday afternoon and much of Monday.
• Mun is the Yapese name for the month of June; while Danas is a Tagalog word, meaning "to feel".
