#KDrama #DNAlover was not great, to be kind. BUT, reading of a high profile megabudget #KDrama in which a main female character ended up being little more than a disposable uterus made me even more impressed with the supporting arc which had moved me to stick with DNA Lover. The tertiary couple there featured a male character with aspermia, and DINK was explicitly promoted as a perfectly valid lifestyle. A very BIG contrast to the unsubtle propaganda of the other #KDrama, it seems to me.
Finally done with #KDrama #DNAlover , a weirdly retro Drama in many ways. The legally-mandated serial killer arc helped bloat it out to 16 eps, but also ticked lots of OLD tropes - painful separation, a time skip and a finale where the OTP got together in LITERALLY the last 5 minutes - exactly as I called it at the start of the 75 min finale. Throwing in the 'mother from hell redeemed cos she's sick' was vintage eyeroll, and ending on a hug was very retro bland

FFing through #KDrama #DNAlover to find out how one of the support pairings turns out, I'm being reminded that I have a really weird, narrow fetishist niche when it comes to #KDrama, one that is almost impossible to find examples of from this decade.

It's apparently freaky kink I should be ashamed of, but for some weird reason., I can't help myself. I just like my romcoms

to be sans serial killers

TFW you're watching #KDrama #DNAlover and wish you knew more about #kpop so you could know if the song Choi Si Won is singing in a noraebang is a Super Junior number

Watching #KDrama #DNAlover and being reminded of a trend in #KDrama I find really disturbing: Whiteface

The Asian obsession with fair skin is ages old, of course, but in #KDramas of 10+ years ago, the FL was "only" unnaturally fair. Now it seems that the norm is for them to be like the FL in this Drama, with faces that are literally white; so white as to make the average European seem swarthy by comparison.

Into episode 2 of #KDrama #DNAlover and already a drop is looming. Batsh*to crazy pseudo-science I can handle in a Drama, but the FL's insistence that literally every single aspect of a human's life is entirely and irrevocably governed by DNA is getting VERY old, VERY fast. The cynic in me sees it as Confucian propaganda - stay in your lane plebs, where your genes put you.

I was in my mid 40s when I watched my first #KDrama 12 years ago. Watching episode 1 of #KDrama #DNAlover has raised an important question:

Will I live long enough to ever see a #KDrama that recognizes there is nothing even remotely cute or funny about people drinking themselves unconscious? If I end up with the lifespan of the bristlecone pine, then just maybe. But I doubt it

#Day15 A 2024 drama that grew on you with time

DNA Lover. I know it's a silly one, full of predictable tropes, and even pseudo-scientific, however it raises serious questions about human flaws in a funny and light way.
And so it grew on me.

@MisuseCase exactly! The FL is silly, the plot can even be absurd at times, but this all happens in a way that not only it's very funny, but it's also a deep thoughts catalyzer 😆
I can't fully explain the reactions this #kdrama provokes 😂

#DNALover

The stated premise of #DNALover, the plot synopsis, and the way it’s promoted make it seem like a silly and even vapid romantic comedy, but the actual premise of this show is that most of the characters are lying to themselves and the world at large about what they want, need, and expect from their relationships. There’s a lot going on under the surface.
