#Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor spread false #ConspiracyTheories Monday about #California’s still-ongoing #PrimaryVote count, suggesting that delayed results may be evidence of #fraud.

The alarming insinuation from a top #DepartmentOfJustice (#DOJ) official is just the latest example of President Donald #Trump and his allies using California’s protracted tallying of #ballots to fuel conspiracy theories.

Trump signed a sweeping executive order in March that, in part, ordered the Postal Service to only send mail ballots to voters on lists created and controlled by the federal government.

USPS is moving forward with the order even though legal experts and voting rights organizations have warned that it is a blatantly unconstitutional attempt to restrict the right to vote and usurp states’ authority over elections.

USPS also said the names of mail voters would be associated with a “unique barcode” that is assigned to their ballot. It claimed that the barcode would “help determine adherence to federal law and facilitate law enforcement efforts.”

Canceling elections altogether might be a step too far even for the MAGA crowd, so our fascist government is trying everything it can to ensure that it won’t need to cancel elections to make them moot anyway. (As if voting in this country isn’t already a bad joke.)
