Tamil actor and filmmaker Dhanush has excited fans with the announcement of his fourth directorial venture, Idli Kadai, which is set to hit theatres in April 2025. The film will see Dhanush himself in a starring role, alongside National Award-winning actress Nithya Menen. The two have previously shared the screen in the much-loved Thiruchitrambalam, and their reunion in Idli Kadai is generating significant buzz in the Tamil film industry.
To mark the occasion of Pongal, Dhanush took to X (formerly Twitter) to unveil two brand-new posters for Idli Kadai. In one poster, Dhanush is seen gazing into the distance, set against a beautiful, scenic backdrop, exuding an air of contemplation and mystery. In the second poster, the actor shares an intimate moment with Nithya Menen, where they are seen embracing each other in a serene setting. Along with the posters, Dhanush wished his followers a “Happy Pongal,” adding a festive touch to the announcement.
Idli Kadai was first revealed by Dhanush in September, when he posted a concept poster on his X account. The poster depicted a humble roadside shop under a starry night sky, with the cryptic text "#D52 #DD4 Om Namashivaaya" hinting at the film’s unique theme and intriguing storyline. While details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, the setting of a small "idli kadai" (restaurant) suggests that the film may explore the heartwarming dynamics of everyday life, with a focus on human connections and emotions.
Nithya Menen, who won the National Film Award for Best Actress in November for her stellar performance in Thiruchitrambalam, will once again team up with Dhanush in this much-awaited project. Their chemistry in Thiruchitrambalam was widely appreciated, and fans are eagerly anticipating their on-screen collaboration once more. The film also promises to be a treat for music lovers, with music composed by GV Prakash, whose melodies have consistently struck a chord with audiences. The cinematography is helmed by Kiran Koushik, with editing by Prasanna GK, adding to the technical brilliance of the project.
Idli Kadai is being produced by Dhanush’s production company, Wunderbar Films, in collaboration with Aakash Baskaran’s Dawn Pictures.
