Ich habe heute die wunderbare französische Graphic Novel "Adieu #Birkenau" gelesen und bin tief berührt.

Erzählt wird von der Deportationserfahrung von Ginette #Kolinka, die 1944 u. a. in Birkenau und Bergen-Belsen gefangen gehalten wurde. Viele Jahre später ist sie als Zeitzeugin an Schulen unterwegs und reist mit Schüler.innen zurück nach Birkenau, um ihnen ihre Geschichte zu erzählen. Diese beiden Stränge finden in dem Buch sehr gekonnt zusammen.

Diese #GraphicNovel schafft den unglaublichen Spagat zwischen Horror und Heiterkeit. Manchmal lachte ich laut auf, dann wagte ich kaum weiterzulesen.

Ein wertvolles Stück #Literatur!

I finally finished drafting the script for my #GraphicNovel . Now to draw it! I mean: now to figure out how to draw it!

This is such an odd project for me, and such an odd place for my head to be in during a project. I can imagine all sorts of problems and complaints readers will have with what I'm doing and how I'm doing it, but none of them dissuade me. I feel like I've never before made a #comic that is so much FOR ME, and if other people don't like it, that doesn't mean I'm wrong. It's weird not needing to worry about audience reaction.... #cartooning #writing #creativity
