Nel fine settimana venti cestini gettacarte modello “Corolla” sono stati rubati lungo l’asse di corso Vittorio Emanuele.
L’amara scoperta è arrivata nelle prime ore del mattino, quando il Direttore Generale, Massimo Collesano è stato informato dai responsabili del servizio svuotamento.
Questa mattina l’azienda ha schierato una squadra per la ricollocazione di nuovi cestini prevedendo un potenziamento degli stessi anche nella parte bassa del Cassaro (tratto da via Roma a Porta Felice). Saranno posizionati complessivamente trenta nuovi cestini.
“L’impatto economico è rilevante – spiega il Presidente della Rap Giuseppe Todaro-. Il danno stimato solo per il materiale rubato ammonta a circa 8.000 euro (400 euro a cestino). Uno schiaffo al decoro e un grande sacrificio per l’azienda ma, soprattutto, sono risorse sottratte alla collettività”.
La RAP ha già provveduto a sporgere denuncia presso le autorità competenti.
Nel settembre 2024, l’area era stata già dotata di una settantina di nuovi cestini gettacarte anche per fronteggiare le sporadiche vandalizzazioni che spesso colpiscono diversi quartieri di Palermo come già è avvenuto nei mesi scorsi in via Maqueda, dove sono stati smontati dieci cestini o ancora il furto di due nuovi cestini in corso Finocchiaro Aprile di fronte il Palazzo di Giustizia.

Over the weekend, twenty “Corolla” model trash bins were stolen along Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
The bitter discovery arrived in the early morning hours, when the General Director, Massimo Collesano, was informed by the service emptying personnel.
This morning, the company deployed a team to relocate new bins, anticipating an enhancement of the same in the lower part of Cassaro (from Via Roma to Porta Felice). Thirty new bins will be installed in total.
“The economic impact is significant – explains the President of Rap Giuseppe Todaro. The damage alone for the stolen material amounts to approximately 8,000 euros (400 euros per bin). A slap in the face to the decorum and a great sacrifice for the company, but above all, these are resources withdrawn from the community.”
Rap has already filed a report with the competent authorities.
In September 2024, the area had already been equipped with around seventy new “Corolla” trash bins to address sporadic vandalism that often affects various districts of Palermo, as had already occurred in the past in Via Maqueda, where ten bins were dismantled, or still the theft of two new bins on Corso Finocchiaro Aprile in front of the Palazzo di Giustizia.
