Summer Honors Program, Day -1/12:
It's always great seeing the other professors the night before the program starts, since we live all over the globe and generally only get to pal around in person once a year.
It is extremely disappointing that the American fascists prevented our Icelandic philosophy professor from flying in this year for fear of randomly being arrested, detained, and deported. Glad that he is able to participate remotely with a local assistant in the classroom, but what a stupid and malevolent goddamned government we got saddled with.
Summer Honors Program, Day -2/12:
Off to my yearly ritual of teaching Computer Science to gifted high schoolers in Holdrege, NE! This year will be an electronics primer and lab, with the goal of building rudimentary digital cameras. I'm taking next summer off so I can finally take my wife to our honeymoon in Prague, so hoping I finish this year's program on a high note.
I am so sore from last night...
...from grading programming assignments for like six hours straight.
I found myself inspired last night to start researching Masters of Computer Science Education online programs last night. Specifically the teaching of computer science is where I want to go. I see how this fits within #DevRel / developer education.
My undergrad work was in Business Education, which does include CIS/programming.
I may even consider going for the doctoral one day.
