This single well-known and widespread butterfly is actually three species in disguise

The genus Colobura is one of the most abundant and conspicuous butterflies in Central and South America, and for 200 years, it was thought to contain a single species. Turns out there's at least three, though you have to look at their caterpillars to easily distinguish them.
