Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are on the rise. However, around 5 per cent of the European population carries a gene variant that protects against IBD. Specialists in genetics, medicine and archaeology from #ClusterROOTS and #ClusterPMI at @kieluni have traced the origins of this variant back to the Stone Age. The study has been published now in the international journa eBiomedicine: https://www.uni-kiel.de/en/cluster-roots/details/news/018-ced-steinzeit
