The best way to honor the #ParisAgreement is for States to:
❌ Stop using it to shield themselves from #ClimateAccountability, &
✅ Start meaningfully protecting people and the planet from climate harm.
❌In the past 2 weeks, some States [incl. 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇷🇺🇸🇦🇩🇪🇳🇴] led retrograde charges suggesting States' climate obligations are narrowly centered on the Paris Agreement to escape #ClimateAccountability.
But, the climate regime did not erase pre-existing law when it was written, it added to it.
😡 In brief, the world’s major polluters attempted to tear apart the legal bases for climate reparations and sweep historical conduct and knowledge under the rug, in an effort to escape #ClimateAccountability and their duties to repair the harms they have caused 😡
