#Arachtober 2: I wonder how long I can go without posting a spider? This is a pseudoscorpion from my yard. These bizarre-looking but harmless arachnids live all over the world, but unless you're looking for them you might never see them. They live in caves and under rocks and leaf litter and tree bark and such, and the largest in the world is only about a centimetre long.

Happy #PseudoscorpionPsaturday! Flipped over a random piece of wood in the garden mulch, found this critter. The green is just reflected from the green table I put the piece of wood on, but I think it makes it look like some fantasy creature from D&D or a @MichaelWhelan cover.

Some still photos of the pseudoscorpion grooming as well. The chelicerae remind me of those of Solifugae, on a much tinier scale, in the way they flex side-to-side.

Pseudoscorpion Psaturday! Found this healthy-sized cthoniid (I think) under a rock in the garden and watched it clean its claws with its chelicerae, which also have claws.

If you didn't know about this common and widespread but rarely observed order of arachnids, now you do! https://www.americanarachnology.org/about-arachnids/arachnid-orders/pseudoscorpiones/
