In unrelated news, Ubuntu 22.04 stock on a Pixelbook Go i5 gets pretty good battery life. The guesses for how long the battery will last are way over the top, at least in Performance mode. I'll try it in Balanced and Power Saver at some point, too.

Getting Ubuntu running on the Pixelbook Go was really easy. I've been working on the fit and finish a bit. Currently trying to figure out how to map the search key (in CapsLock position) to Ctrl.

As expected, no sound - but I couldn't care less.

It's on. Got my T2 Torx driver in the mail today, so I was able to disconnect the Pixelbook Go battery. Just about to install the new UEFI.

A new precision screwdriver set is on the way, and will hopefully be here tomorrow. There's nowhere with a T2 Torx locally that I can get to before then.

The Pixelbook Go i5 hardware is decent (8GB RAM, i5-8220Y (2c/4t, 1.3-3.9GHz**, 128GB eMMC, 45Whr battery), so I'd really like to use it rather than ignore it.

** The i5-8220Y does up to 3.9GHz according to Intel, but the Pb Go is a fanless unit, so likely won't scale up nearly that high. I can't remember what I've observed it do IRL -- it's been that long since I've used it.

So I decided to do the remove-the-battery method on my Pixelbook Go, as well. Getting the back off is easy -- but finding a T2 Torx bit to get the battery to detach has been a no-go. Currently looking on Amazon, and at London Drugs -- in case I can run to the local and grab something quicker.
