#chemsky #chemchat re: Vought/OMB rule the statement itself is judgment-less, but they are (hands waggling) talking about putting in a public comment

Jon Stokes gave an inspiring and highly interactive @[email protected] Lecture. He talked about the power and the limitations of AI for antibiotic drug discovery. (1/4) www.thestokeslab.com #ChemSky #ChemBio #DrugDiscovery #Antibiotics #AI #MachineLearning
Interesting paper by the groups of Jongmin Park, Juyong Lee and Hankum Park in @[email protected]. They developed muscle-specific PROTACs engaging the E3 ligase KLHL41. Great to see the most potent molecules with covalent KLHL41 ligands. www.nature.com/articles/s41... #ChemSky #ChemBio #TPD

Discovery of a KLHL41 Ligand for Muscle Specific Protein Degradation - Nature Communications

PROTACs rely mainly on ubiquitous E3 ligases, limiting tissue selectivity. Here, the authors identify a ligand of muscle specific E3 ligase KLHL41 and develop a covalent PROTAC (cKBD-1) that enables potent, muscle-specific protein degradation in vitro and in vivo.

TIL "Group 3 base oil" #chemsky Motor oil is 70%-plus, in some cases higher, Group 3 base oil. And 45% of that base oil comes out of the Middle East," Alfano said. "The largest producer of Group 3 base oil, which is Shell's Pearl GTL facility, was struck by an Iranian missile." via CBS News

Is there a motor oil shortage?...
Is there a motor oil shortage? Here's why your oil change is getting more expensive.

Certain motor oils could see shortages, and that's making oil changes more expensive.

man, this is really disappointing that no one came up (so far as I can tell) with the correct chemical - it's phenothiazine (PTZ), as demonstrated in the Dow users guide for methacrylate esters: www.dow.com/en-us/docume... #chemsky

What is "hydrogenated styrene/butyric acid copolymer"? Seen on skincare patch ingredient list. I can't imagine making a copolymer of those two things and having much left to hydrogenate. Perhaps it's the carbonyls somewhere? #chemsky
Er. Seriously praying for a benign outcome, but needing foam vs water to put out a potential fire is not a methyl methacrylate thing -- that's just a burning pool of generic liquid thing... #ChemSky
