"The Empire State Trail is a multi-use trail in New York State that was completed in December 2020. The trail runs from Manhattan north to the Canada–United States border in Rouses Point near the northern tip of Lake Champlain, and also from Buffalo to Albany. At 750 miles, it is the longest multi-use trail in the United States."
Circular fisheye optic. Trail along the old Champlain canal at "The Hemlocks", a hamlet along the Champlain Canal in a section known as the “long level”, a 16-mile section between the Stillwater and Schuylerville locks. The Hemlocks had a grocery store and day barn for stabling mules.
A walk along the Five Combines earlier today. The combines, built in 1845, are part of the Feeder Canal system, built to carry water to the Champlain Canal. Normally I would photograph the stepped structure of the 5 waterfalls but it's been cold enough to freeze the surface solid so no water was visible today although it was audible.
