The part of my commute to work has several traffic lights. I am one of those cyclists who stop at red light. At one of these traffic lights today, I saw that it was green when I was about 200 meters away and it doesn't stay green that long so I decided to sprint.
I got out of the saddle and started accelerating while dumping multiple gears repeatedly until the chain rolled of my chainring. Luckily, I was now almost at the light so I succeeded despite the chain drop.
I easily got the chain back using the front shifter and backpedalling. Maybe this is a sign I should replace the chain with the shiny new pre-waxed one I just bought.
