Agi: Omicidio Cerciello: definitiva la condanna di Natale Hjorth

AGI - I giudici della Corte di Cassazione hanno condannato a 10 anni, 11 mesi e 25 giorni Gabriel Christian Natale Hjorth, il cittadino americano coinvolto nell'omicidio del vicebrigadiere Mario Cerciello Rega, ucciso con 11 coltellate la notte tra il 25 e il 26 luglio del 2019 nel quartiere romano di Prati. I supremi giudici hanno dichiarato inammissibile il ricorso della difesa per quanto riguarda la pena, mentre hanno annullato con rinvio a nuovo giudizio sul punto dell'aggravante per i soli profili civili.
La procura generale aveva chiesto di condannare a 10 anni e 11 mesi Gabriel Natale Hjorth nell'ambito del processo d'appello ter, disposto dalla Cassazione 'limitatamente al ricalcolo della pena'. Si è trattato di una richiesta di riduzione di cinque mesi rispetto agli 11 anni e 4 mesi inflitti nel precedente Appello bis. Hjorth si trova attualmente ristretto agli arresti domiciliari a Fregene.  
La condanna definitiva per Finnegan Lee Elder
È invece definitiva dal 25 novembre 2024 la condanna a 15 anni e 2 mesi per Finnegan Lee Elder colpevole - insieme a Gabriel Natale Hjorth - dell'omicidio del carabiniere. I giudici della Corte d'Appello di Roma avevano ridotto la pena di Elder condannato all'ergastolo in primo grado, a 22 anni in appello e, dopo un passaggio in Cassazione, infine, a 15 anni e 2 mesi nel corso dell'appello bis. Per l'altro imputato, Gabriel Natale Hjorth, il pg, così come i difensori, avevano fatto istanza in Cassazione.

Cerciello Murder: Natale Hjorth’s conviction finalized

The Court of Cassation judges have sentenced Gabriel Christian Natale Hjorth to 10 years, 11 months and 25 days, the American citizen involved in the murder of Sergeant Mario Cerciello Rega, who was killed with 11 stab wounds on the night between July 25th and 26th, 2019, in the Prati district of Rome. The supreme judges dismissed the defense’s appeal regarding the sentence, while they overturned with referral to a new trial the aggravating factor for purely civil profiles.

The public prosecutor had requested a sentence of 10 years and 11 months for Gabriel Natale Hjorth in the third appeal, ordered by the Cassation “limited to the recalculation of the sentence.” This was a request for a reduction of five months compared to the 11 years and 4 months imposed in the previous Second Appeal. Hjorth is currently under house arrest in Fregene.

The definitive conviction of Finnegan Lee Elder

Conversely, the conviction of 15 years and 2 months for Finnegan Lee Elder, guilty - along with Gabriel Natale Hjorth - of the murder of the carabinieri, is definitive from November 25, 2024. The judges of the Court of Appeal of Rome had reduced Elder’s sentence, initially sentenced to life imprisonment, to 22 years on appeal, and, after a pass to the Cassation, finally to 15 years and 2 months in the second appeal. For the other defendant, Gabriel Natale Hjorth, the prosecutor, as well as the defense, had made a request to the Cassation.
