I got an email yesterday from Mint Mobile, from whom we have our cell service, advertising Mint Internet over T-Mobile's 5g network. It would save us almost a hundred bucks a month over Cox. We do stream a fair amount, so that's a big consideration.

Does anyone have experience with this service?

FWIW, their cell service has been stellar.

Thinking of jumping to #TMobile Home Internet from #Spectrum. My T-Mo iPhone gets gigabit download speeds on 5G now... but the home internet speeds are listed as quite a bit slower. Are home internet speeds throttled or is T-Mobile just being conservative in what they promise?

Comcast was doing work to “improve the network” in my neighborhood all day, so I spent the workday running off my Verizon phone hotspot.

And I didn’t notice a difference. 400/40 cable internet vs 400/50 cellular, really couldn’t tell. I did pass on downloading the 2.6GB ISO I needed, but even that would’ve been no biggie.

The most annoying thing about tech, is when you tell someone it works like "this" and they come back with, "that is not how it works", but you prove them wrong again and again and again, yet they don't want to hear it.

For example, if I change my IP with T-Mobile Home Internet, depending on which IP I am assigned will determine my connection speed, latency, and general connectivity.

Perhaps that is now how it is supposed to work, but that is how it is working. It has been working this way for a few years now.

We are waiting for our new phones to arrive! We got a different cell service provider this week* and decided to get new phones as well. We had decided on the Sonim XP3 Plus and it is supposed to arrive by tomorrow; we're hoping, of course, that they will arrive a day early. We moved our home internet with the same provider as well. Our internet speeds are literally - and yes, in the literal meaning of the word - 10x what they were with the other company! And I'm pretty sure that every call will no longer end by being dropped! Once we get the phones I'll let you know. But we're now wondering why we didn't do this a lot sooner!

(@dallin I thought of you and your Jelly phone - do you still use and like it?)

* We live in a very rural area, in the midst of an Amish community. Our only option for internet or phones is cellular; of the big 3 only one gets a consistent signal at a decent strength, plus enough speed that it is actually usable!
