A delivery van hit an 81-year-old woman and 80-year-old man walking in Capelle aan den IJssel on Wednesday evening. Both died at the scene. The police arrested the driver, an 18-year-old man, and are investigating what happened.According to the Rotterdam police, the elderly couple was walking on Ketsendijk when they got hit by the car. First responders tried to resuscitate them, but it was to no avail. They died at the scene.

A firearm was found in a 15-year-old student’s locker at a high school in Capelle aan den IJssel on Thursday morning. The boy has been arrested, and the firearm has now been seized, police reported.
