KayI’m definitely no spider enthusiast. I was already jittery editing the photo - then the cat snuck up on me, rubbing against my legs, and I nearly jumped out of my skin! Still, I have to admit: it’s kind of…beautiful. It’s probably a giant golden orb weaver, and apparently they’re harmless. As far as I recall, it was at least palm-sized, though in my mind, remembered spiders just keep on growing.
Anyway, I’m glad I didn’t panic when a few of these big specimens spun their webs right in front of our cabin and the neighboring ones - literally blocking the entrance. We arrived at night in the dark, and I couldn’t really see them. If I’d taken the wrong path, I’d have walked straight into that eight-legged greeting party. Even now, the thought sends chills down my spine. But hey, they’re kinda pretty - right? Right?
