How do #cancercells manage to infiltrate #lymphnodes, for example, where lots of #immunecells are active and should be able to destroy them? According to a new study in
Cell Metabolism, #mitochondrialtransfer between #cells is the cause. Cancer cells "#steal" these small #organelles, which are highly efficient #energysuppliers, from the immune cells, thereby weakening the latter.

Oncological diseases are characterized by rapid development of cells
Oncological diseases are a whole category of diseases (often identified as cancer) characterized by chaotic, uncontrolled and rapid development of cells. As a rule, the full name of the cancer is supplemented by the name of the affected organ (for example: pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer).
#Cancercells often manage to override the mechanism that breaks down #cells that are damaged or have undergone dangerous changes. Researchers now succeeded in identifying a new #molecularswitch in this process and elucidating how it works: http://go.tum.de/789201
