#CampaignDiary, kinda?
just finished running session 30 in my #SeasonOfGhosts campaign and it was amazing!
we finished book 2! we're halfway through and i'm super excited! (actually a bit more than halfway, cuz we did some book 3 stuff already xD)
once again, my players surprised me with all kinds of stuff, including using the Call Spirit ritual to talk to an important villain they killed weeks ago, to get more secrets from!
i ran the dungeon i prepped yesterday and it worked out really well!
turned one enemy into a more passive person on the spot. that ended up working really well as the party got to understand the complexities of the place better!
in the end, all players gave me positive feedback for the session ^^
glad to see that i'm still kinda good at this whole gm thing ๐
the boat game had its first session in the new setup!
the party met... at a library! xD
there was a tinkerer who accidentally awakened an ancient evil dragon robot. said robot rolled really bad on all attacks tho and got destroyed before it could land a single hit xD
now the party looks really competent and that'll have positive and negative consequences later ^^
also, a bird made a bet with a ship's captain and won the whole ship xD
we finished the campaign! 23 sessions, played out over 10.5 months!
it was a good and open ending! everyone still has some stuff to do, and perhaps we could revisit that at some point in the future ^^
i'm real happy now, because despite running ttrpgs since 2018 this is only the second campaign i actually got to finish!
excited to run more for these players at some point ^^
didn't get to run a game this week, but i'm setting up 2 additional bi-weekly games! one for wardens of wildwood and the other for abomination vaults ^^
gonna be good!

we're back after 5 weeks!
sometimes you just gotta kidnap your own (arranged marriage) husband in order to talk to his evil (incredibly powerful) earthbender aunt. and then you gotta run away because the plan somewhat backfired xD
i love playing 5000 years in the past! when i revealed that the name of the aunt is Beifong it had the right reaction ๐
super excited for next week! boat trip to the fire isles, what can go wrong? ๐

my players keep surprising me in the best ways. they keep improvising new story elements into the game that i simply can't pass up! their plot is so much better than mine xD
by now my prep is just a few key points and the rest is improv

played in a game that a friend made and it was very fun ^^
i played a nice old lady who was secretly a robin hood-esque crooked burglar. the other players were a 500y/o vampire and a magic teen! very fun crew ^^
in session we had very obvious signs of werewolf attacks, but were unsure if it was a red herring until we actually saw a lady turn into one!
defeated her non-lethally and ended the session promising to help her with the curse ๐

i had a certain plan for this sesion, as you do. and then my players did the opposite of what i expected, which threw my plan out the window and led to an entirely different session in the best way possible!
instead of arresting the bloodbender, one of the characters actually freed her (in front of the guards). this led to a chase, falling down a waterfall and lore dumps that happened way earlier than i had planned.
best! 10/10
I just realized I haven't posted in a couple months. This has been for a few reasons, I believe.
1- I mainly post #CampaignDiary from my #Pathfinder2e game, but we have played only a couple times recently, and it's been a down period for me, as far as enthusiasm goes.
2- I upped my #ObsidianMD skills to a whole new level, and spent most of my writing in doing some housekeeping to my #PKM, doing some #Journaling (first time for me, but I'm quite enjoying it)
3- I just got my new phone after 4 years with my trusty iPhone XS, and I've been down a "new toy! Shiny!" spiral for the last week.
And I find this akin to something that happens IRL. People sometimes seem to disappear, drift away, but unless they were trash people to begin with, it doesn't *have* to be done with malice. There might be a thousand reasons for it to happen, good and bad, and if they're friends to you, you don't have to resent them without having confirmation. And if they *aren't* friends, you don't have to care. Think of your #SelfCare ๐ฉต
