So in the PBTA solo rpg ruleset I'm building, I'm kinda going around and around on a design choice about stats/traits
One option is to go pretty normal with stats, and use something like the Apocalypse world or D&D style stats (for AW: Hot, Cool, Sharp, Hard, Weird, for D&D str, dex, con, int, wis, cha)
Another option is to go with traits that describe an area of knowledge/ability. So this'd be like, my stats are: Quickdraw Pistol Duellist 2, Botanical Garden Employee 1, Ancestry: Animated Plush Toy -1, and Taupe Septagon Cultist 0. The problem with this approach is that is may leave a character with no good stat/trait to default to for things outside the defined stats, but it's also pretty flexible and less granular.
Or option 3 would be to split the difference and do both standard stats and descriptive traits.
DO YOU PERSONALLY PREFER?
