Reasonable People #48: The dynamics of 'participatory disinformation' campaigns show the limits of trying to correct individual rumours

Reasonable People
Day 8 of conferencing and my voice is completely gone. #CSCW2023 #AoIR2023 #PostAPI

Feeling very fulfilled (and tired!) after #CSCW2023 - lots of new people and ideas, and lots of catching up and reunions with friends and colleagues who I haven't seen in a long time!

(Really thankful to the work everyone did to make the conference happen!)

Day 6 of conferencing and I'm exhausted. #CSCW2023 #AoIR2023
NSF program officer Bill Bainbridge is retiring (any moment now....?) and during #CSCW2023 we gathered people for a happy retirement photo to send him - my understanding is that these represent folks whose research he helped to support over many years. The National Science Foundation has been critical for the research in our community, and the program officers who help shepherd it are so important!

From my extremely objective non-attendee vantage point, #AOIR2023 is absolutely clowning #CSCW2023 in terms of formal institutional support, content generation, and grassroots engagement around conference activity on the fediverse.

“CSCW’s Post-Platform Sociotechnical Gap: Why We No Toot?”

Well I am home after a week of running #CSCW2023 and my current plan is to not do a single productive thing until Monday.
#CSCW2023 is now concluded! The communications team would like to acknowledge that we were unable to post to multiple platforms during the conference due to the lack of a built-in scheduling tool on this platform. We tried one external scheduling tool that did *not* work, and we were too hesitant to provide access to the account without more time to understand trustworthy options. Only one Comms Chair was available to attend the conference in-person, so we needed to prioritize the bird site. 1/2
Some photos of talks from @socialfutureslab to close out #CSCW2023! First up is @shagun's talk on Monday where he presented on personal content moderation tools. More in this blog post https://medium.com/acm-cscw/personalizing-content-moderation-on-social-media-sites-f2543e62d2fb
