Lederlaufkäfer haben eine beachtliche Größe und wuchtige Mandibeln. Bei einer Rettungsaktion vom Wanderweg ins Gebüsch daneben, konnte ich auch spüren, wie kräftig sie damit zubeißen können. Wie er zu seinem Namen kommt, kann man hier auch gut erkennen. Leather beetle (Carabus coriaceus)

Blue Banded Bee completed approval a week ago. The Australian Blue Banded Bee is one of my most favourite insects, they’re curious, sweet little souls that would happily follow a hiker along bush paths. They’re stingless (like all Australian bees), they solitary but enjoy the company of others. 🥰
