The weekend project is officially up on the wall! Some people will recognize this from the show. 🦑 🎨
I think the next Squid painting will be the sad clown on a dark green background.
The airtight paint palettes arrived and I’ve had a fun, bit messy, time of partially filling them (already messed up pink with blue). I’ve left gaps awaiting a few new tubes and I’ll need to order one more than I realised - ultramarine blue gouache has dried in the tube.
I can cut it open and use the paint (gouache is rewettable), though I don’t need more dry gouache, hence the stay-wet palette. But what can you do.
Gouache is in the smaller, fuller, palette - lemon yellow, yellow, yellow deep, vermilion, magenta, rose tyrien, perylene violet, cyan blue, cobalt turquoise, prussian blue, emerald green, deep green and white.
Watercolour in the wider palette - azo yellow, quinacridone gold, permanent magenta, blue violet, cobalt blue, cerulean blue, cobalt turquoise and indigo.
Lemon yellow, Indian yellow hue, pyrrol red, rose madder lake, quinacridone rose, quinacridone purple, french ultramarine blue and phthalo blue are on their way.
Today, I’m watching paint dry! 🎨
I have more experience with watercolor than gouache, and more watercolor blues than acrylic ones. Now I’ve got a new weekend project and an opportunity to practice a different medium! What to do about the frame. 🤔
Stumbled upon a YouTube video about paint palettes with airtight lids so you can keep paints wet. I’d completely forgotten about them, but ordered two, one each for gouache and watercolour.
The gouache is to use it with its intended opacity. I’m having trouble getting it wet enough from the dry pans.
The watercolour is for ease of working bigger, when I get to that 😏 A while ago I bought a bunch of tube paints since most I have are in pans, and my few existing tubes were nearing the end but most had enough to get on with.
One or two are really close to the end so won’t have much even for the small pans in this palette, so I decided to replace them all as well.
As before, I mostly went with Jackson’s own since they’re pretty cheap and on the whole that was easy again since I’m replacing a bunch by Sennelier, bar one.
