Winter Solstice

21 June 6:24pm AEST
Sun’s Rebirth
days grow longer

Feel me now in limitless skies and endless stars
I am the stillness between
out-breath
and in-breath

Rest in that pause
Feel my presence

I carry your inspiration on soft feathered currents
I am peace

Now for wind turbines

"Victoria’s brolga population has reduced historically due to loss of wetlands from agricultural clearing and drainage, as well as overhunting in the 19th century...The draining of ephemeral wetlands and the creation of dams has been the biggest factor in the brolga’s demise."

Dancing Brolgas

Famed for their elaborate courtship dance, performed year-round, brolgas are an iconic Australian bird.

Also known as burralga in the Gamilaraay Aboriginal language, these birds stand 1m tall with a wing span up to 2.4m. Since brolgas (Grus rubicunda) are dependent on wetlands, one of their main threats is habitat loss due to wetland drainage for agriculture and development.
