Oxytude – Accessibilité, informatique et nouvelles technologies

Hey @DavidGoldfield a while back, I began creating an Excel spreadsheet of all #BrailleSense commands for #JAWS. I’ll be getting my unit back from repair on Saturday and would like to continue to add to this list. The problem is, I can’t find the list in the Jaws keyboard manager. I have installed #Jaws2026. Any hints as to where I might look? Both FSCompanion & Gemini tell me to either consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer. I've tried both but neither were very helpful.

I really, really hope that, in V3 of the Braille Sense Six software, we get a real book reader instead of opening EPUBs in like notepad or something. And that autoscroll works everywhere. And, in my wildest dreams, we get some kind of split Braille thing where 18 cells can be focused on what I'm reading, and the other 18 on like, notifications of new emails and such, or another app, so like split screen. Of course, that's just an excuse for me to not to have to move my hands as much when reading, but I mean I'll take it.

From the BrailleSense, um, email updates people:

SELVAS would like to invite all English BrailleSense users who are interested in participating in a public beta of the long-awaited new Web browser for the BrailleSense 6 and BrailleSense 6 MINI. If you are interested in participating, it is important that you read this document in its entirety.

When and where to get it

At 7 PM CST on July 6, all English firmware users will have access to a new program in the Optional Add-Ons area of your BrailleSense 6 called "Web Browser V2 (beta). Please note that, currently, this is available only in the English version of the BrailleSense 6 and BrailleSense 6 Mini firmware.

Please also be aware that this software is a pre-release version. This means it is likely to contain bugs, errors, or defects, and by agreeing to the terms in the license agreement you accept responsibility for any risks associated with running untested software, including system instability or data loss.

The program can be installed like any add-on. Locate it in the “Download” Area of “Optional Add-Ons”, and press “Enter” to install it. Once done, it will be located below the “Download” option in the “Optional Add-Ons” menu.

Additional things to know

When you first run Browser V2 Beta, you must allow the traditional Android permissions. You are then taken to the terms of the license agreement. We ask that you do read through these terms, as they are not lengthy, and are important for you to be aware of before running this beta software, and activating the “agree” button indicates that you have read and agreed to the terms therein. When you have finished reading the terms, press “Enter” on “Agree”, and the browser will load the homepage.

Please press “Space-H” to get a list of commands for the new Web Browser, as several of them have changed, and take a scan through the menus to familiarize yourself with all the available navigation and functionality.

What to expect

Our goal with this new Web Browser is to maintain the BrailleSense interface, while offering the modern functionality of Chrome, EDGE, and other mainstream Android browsers. We have streamlined the keystrokes for easier memorization, however, in many respects, you'll find that this has a similar look and feel to the original BrailleSense Web Browser. But, don't let that fool you. The differences lie entirely with what you're able to do with it.

It is our intention that you should, with this browser, be able to perform similar functions to those you can achieve in Chrome and other Android browsers, like online shopping, filling out forms, playing embedded media, downloading from Google Drive, and more. However, the vastness of the World Wide Web contains unlimited variations, which a limited group of testers cannot cover. Thus, we want to offer this pre-release test version for those who are interested in trying this with your own use cases, so that we can ensure this works with the greatest number of scenarios as possible before the official release.

Because this program is available as an add-on for testing purposes, there will be some limitations in that, you will generally be able to use this in a stand-alone environment. In other words, you will have to specifically launch it to use it. It will not be able to be chosen as the default browser to open e-mail messages, or Google searches. Of course, these functions will be included in the full public release.

How to provide feedback

For the clearest and most complete reporting of issues and feedback, we ask that you create a log of your issues, as this will automatically generate a screen recording, the page you are visiting, and any related system activity.

To create a log, from the Main Menu, press “F4-L”. You will hear 3 beeps, followed by the message, “Start saving Log Data”. Please reproduce the actions that create the problem you wish to report. Once done, return to the Main Menu, and press “F4-L” once more. The BrailleSense announces, “End Save Log Data”.

Please use BrailleSense to send an e-mail with the log attached to the following address: [email protected]

Include a description of the problem in the body of the e-mail, and attach the log named with the correct time and date from the LogData folder on the flashdisk.

If for some reason the browser crashes or freezes, and you are not able to capture the log in the traditional way, immediately after it happens, return to the Main Menu, and press “Backspace-F2-Space-Enter-2-3-5-6”. This will retrieve the last minute or so of system activity. The file will be called LogLast with the time and date it was captured, and is also located in the LogData folder.

We look forward to receiving your feedback, and offer thanks in advance to those of you who are willing to help us test and improve this much-anticipated modern upgrade to the BrailleSense Web Browser.

@DavidGoldfield Can I access it on my #BrailleSense or #SensePlayer?
@keao @ChrisDuffley I want to check out the #BTBraille, when I'm in Dallas. I also need to get both my #BrailleSense & #SensePlayer looked at. It was incredible chatting with you all last night! We should seriously do it again, soon! Hey, Perhaps, some of us may get the opportunity to work each other on #FieldDay2025, which in & of itself, would be amazing! :)

So um, if today is the last day of #CSUN and HIMS hasn't talked about new firmware/devices or brand new over nine thousand dollar blindness ... gadgets... They just sent out that email so we'd think about them more? Lol mindshare baiting? Lol. Not too surprised though.
