#BookUnrecommendation: Close to Death by #AnthonyHorowitz

I think this is the 3rd time (of 5 #Books) I've read this series about Hawthorne. I didn't care for it the first time, keep forgetting char. name.

1. Author put himself as a(n annoying) character.
2. Lists other stuff he's done (feels like CV/ad/brag).
3. Describes a past plot (spoiler?).
4. Recommends sub-genre books, then mf SPOILS them.🤬

Main story decent otherwise, but no more Horowitz for me.

#BookUnrecommendation: The Parliament by Aimee Pokwatka

Maybe you'll like this, but it hit too many nope points for me.

Thousands of owls lay siege to a library in West Virginia.

👍 Owls like piranhas
👍 Science-y and language bits

👎 Incessant dad jokes
👎 A story within, "The Silent Queen" which is like 1/3rd of the book, a children's fantasy in exactly the style I hate
👎 Situations that make no sense (excluding owl siege)

#BookUnrecommendation The Body in the Web by Katherine Hall Page

So boring gave up.

Takes place from before lockdown to a year or 2 later, in an insular, privileged village. Took 140 pages to get to The Body.

Gave up bc there was a page about cream cheese, and now there's a "nuptual intervention." (Pg 174/251)

Just couldn't take it anymore. It took me a week to get to this point, when I could read a 300pg #Book in an afternoon easily, if it were good.😒

I finally finished The Fall by #AlbertCamus. What an abhorrent character: narcissistic, racist, sexist, selfish, hypocritcal, pro-slavery, with delusions of grandeur.

I'm not sure what the point of it is, except to piss me off. 💢💢💢🦉💢💢💢
